Jomtien
Jomtien Beach is 6-kilometers long, largely straight beach, some 4 kilometers south of Pattaya. The beach is popular with windsurf and watersport enthusiasts, largely because the area enjoys brisk and fresh breezes sweeping inland from the Thai Gulf, and because the seas are less congested with boats than is Pattaya Bay.
Jomtien is also a major residential area with beachside hotels, bungalow complexes, condominiums and restaurants. Jomtien is where also a HiSo Thai can live, who would never dare to live in Pattaya.
Jomtien shares with its neighbor Pattaya its attraction as an alternative to the dull climates and environments of many western countries.
Bangkok's brand new Suvarnambumhi airport is just 70 minutes along the expressways, and if you want to avoid this last 70 minute journey, it even has its own airport: U-Tapao. Scheduled domestic flights take off here for Samui and Phuket if ever you want a quick change of scenery.
Jomtien is surrounded by dozens of charming oases of expat neighbourhoods and secluded residences steeped in traditional Thai surrounding just a few minutes from the city in the luscious hinterland and hills of Jomtien - where privacy and calm surroundings reign supreme.
The region may be a playground for the rich and not so famous, but everyone can enjoy a permanent slice of the good life here - Pattaya and Jomtien may be expensive compared to the rest of the country, but compared to Nice, Cannes, Monte Carlo, Miami and Marbella, it's still one heck of a bargain!
From as little as $50,000 to the ultimate in sheer unadulterated luxury for $1,000,000, you can have condos, houses with pools or an extensive private paradise - whatever your purse can purchase.
